Estimator – Specialist Construction and Engineering Services – Yorkshire – Salary: £50,000 – £55,000
Working for one of the leading construction business’ in the UK, providing support across all stages of the building process; feasibility, consultancy, design, construction, commission, operation and maintenance.
Due to a heavy work load and a number of large, ongoing Projects they are looking to recruit an additional Estimator to the already established team of six. Operating from their Barnsley location but covering a National territory.
The right person must have experience working with pricing and quotations with the construction industry, specifically rail, environmental and big projects are of interest. They must have a proven track record negotiating and securing large scale structural/metalwork projects and packages.
The preparation and management of tenders from receipt of documents through to delivery.
The presentation of tenders to senior management at tender review meetings.
Ensuring all tenders are submitted and meet the required level of detail while be professional and accurately reflecting the current market conditions.
Liaison with Supply Chain Manager with respect to placing of any major supplier or subcontractor enquiries.
The technical and commercial appraisal of materials, plant and sub contract quotations, preparation of analytical estimates including the detailed appraisal of construction labour, plant, materials and temporary works.
The effective analysis and pricing of risks.
The preparation of tender submission documentation.
The preparation of estimating reports.
Providing assistance to proposals and contract management functions.
Team member, Maintaining and developing good working relationships with clients, suppliers and colleagues
Proven track record in negotiating large packages and projects is a must!
Must have an existing network and industry knowledge which has been built up and can be transferred over
Possess a comprehensive contracting background
Estimating experience in one or more of the following sectors: civil engineering and rail.
Must possess a complete understanding of the construction process.
Must be able to demonstrate involvement in innovative winning bids.
Must have an analytical approach, able to understand and follow good estimating procedures, be well organised, self-motivated and able to work alone or in a team.
Must be a good communicator at all levels.
Must be IT literate, particularly with MS Word and Excel.
