An established highly regarded medical device and pharmaceutical research business are looking to appoint a leader of Health & Safety; someone who can take them from compliance to best practice – setting the benchmark for health and safety compliance in the industry. The business are a specialist R&D and testing organisation working as an outsourced specialist, serving cutting edge clinical research to the pharmaceutical and medical science industries.
As a newly created role, this role requires an experienced HSE professional from a laboratory and testing background who can engage with all levels of the business to introduce fresh ideas to improve the processes, systems and culture. With a management team keen to change, this is an exciting “blank canvas” opportunity for a candidate to really make a positive impact.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
– Prepare, develop and implement health, safety and environmental strategies and policies – Develop and execute a robust EHS strategy for the site – Work proactively with key members staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement – Lead all accident and incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions – Observe, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming health, safety and environment legislation – Ensure that appropriate records are maintained in compliance with legal requirements such as COSHH – Design and deliver training sessions on key areas of activity in relation to HSE – Encourage all managers and supervisors to create a safety-first environment – Carry out risk assessments and work proactively to see how risks can be reduced – Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
– Demonstrable experience in a laboratory environment (UKAS) in a HSE role – Stable career background – Able to work in a standalone role – NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) preffered – Chartered member of IOSH preferred – Ability to influence at all levels of organisation – Proven experience in driving changes and improvements – Positive, friendly, driven attitude, with an outgoing personality
